Barefoot Fur-Babies

I’m not sure if you guys know or not, but I am a H.U.G.E dog/animal lover.
Along with my 4 kids I also have 4 more! I have a total of 4 dogs and fish! If I could have more and get away with it without having to get divorced I so totally would!
I have been thinking lately that we have our kids that we care for, but we also have some very important FUR people we take care of too!
Some people don’t care for pets, and to each their own really! But, for me…My 4 FUR babies keep me sane!
I take care of my dogs, feed them, water them, give baths, take walks and the list goes ON and ON!
So I decided that here at Barefoot Mommies we need to make a section that is JUST for our love of our FUR babies and finding them the absolute best of the best!
We do product reviews of some of the best stuff out there, but when it comes to our animals we want the best of the best for them too! I don’t know why I haven’t thought of this sooner!
I have done a few ‘pet’ reviews before, but nothing like I want to bring in on Barefoot Mommies.
Every product review I will have pictures of my dogs using the products, playing, or just dress! (I’m not one to put clothes on my dogs, but for a ‘fashion’ picture I’d do it
So I want you to meet MY doggies. I know of at least one other writer on Barefoot Mommies (Carrie) who has a fur baby, so I am sure she will be bringing in some pet reviews as well.
This section will be ALL about pets! Products and maybe struggles of our animals, training and what nots!
I want you to meet my dogs! I’ll also tell you their little story so you can get to know them as you have me & my ‘human’ family!
Meet Shyla Jane…She is a full blood MINIATURE Dachshund.

Shyla Jane is my lazy girl! As you can see her laying on my kids’ bed as they were cleaning their room.
She likes to play SOMETIMES, but most of the time she is perfectly happy when she is cuddling up next to someone for some lovies.
I got Shyla after I had lost my wiener dog to kidney failure. Her name was Twyla Jane. I was so heart broken, I had her for 9 years before she passed.
After I healed a bit I decided I wanted another wiener dog to maybe help with the pain some. So I went on the search through papers, internet, ect. I found Shyla! But much to my surprise, Shyla is actually related to my Twyla that I lost! The breeder I got her from, she got her dogs from the same people that I got Twyla from and Shyla’s parents are from one of the litters that Twyla’s parents had.
So, Shyla was Heaven sent and it really made me feel better knowing that Twyla was still very much with me through Shyla!
Weird, isn’t it??
Our next fur baby is Leroy Brown! (My dad named him lol)
Leroy Brown is a Miniature Pinscher and possibly mixed with something else, but we’re still unsure lol.
My mom was driving home one day on her long dirt road and found Leroy on the road. People are known just to drop off their dogs around where they live and it looked as if he was another ‘Drop Off’.
She opened her car door and Leroy just jumped in and had a seat on her middle console. He acted like he has known her for YEARS.
When she got home she called me to tell me she had found him. I knew that if I didn’t hurry up and get there to get him that my dad would get attached to him and not let him go. (I was right too!)
By the time I got there my dad already named him! I told my dad that Leroy was mine and I came all the way over to get him!
Of course I first asked my husband if I can have him and he told me a huge NO! Heh…I didn’t listen!
I brought Leroy home and he has been the life of the party ever since!
He is a fun loving boy, and the ONLY dog my husband allows to sleep in our bed!
Leroy loves to play and play in the water. There has been absolutely NO toy I have found to stand up to this boy! He loves his toys, but takes him 2.1 seconds to chew the crap out of them and makes ‘Mommy’ waste money!
If you think you have a toy that can outlast this boy, BRING IT ON! I swear I would buy stock in a toy this boy couldn’t chew up!
Our next Fur Baby is Sissy! She is a full blood Miniature Pinscher.

She’s a red Miniature Pinscher and she is a TURD!
Sissy is so spoiled it is unbelievable! No matter how mad she makes you, you can’t help but give her love because of her big puppy eyes!
Sissy will run out the front door as soon as you open it and then it’s ‘Good luck catching me people!’
We’ve spent HOURS trying to catch this girl!
Sissy comes from my parents Miniature Pinscher’s. She is one of their babies. Her dad is red and her mom is black & tan.
Sissy is very much the life of the party and again is SPOILED ROTTEN by all of us!
Sissy & Leroy play ALL the time, and she also is another ‘chewer’ and no toy can stand up to her either, however I must say Leroy is worse at chewing up toys than Sissy is!
Our last doggy and newest member of our family is Bella. She is a full blood German Shepherd!

Bella is 18 months old and we got her last Tuesday 6/22/10.
I have ALWAYS wanted a full blood German Shepherd since I read up on them. I really studied this breed and knew they would make a great family dog. Be the protector my children need and be the friendly outgoing dog we all want & love.
I had asked my husband if I could get a German Shepherd for my birthday and of course he said NO! The next day I brought Bella to her FOREVER home.
(As you can see I don’t listen too well!)
He was mad at first, but he got over it and now loves Bella as much as we do!
So far Bella has turned out to be absolutely awesome!
When we got her Tuesday she was SKINNY and FULL of ticks! Not just any ticks, but those nasty blood ticks. It was gross. To say I was a bit upset is an understatement.
With my love for dogs, it just kills me inside to know a dog was mistreated.
She is the most sweetest dog, lets my kids hang on her, gets along with my other dogs. Yesterday was the day she really came out and showed who she was. She was playing and having fun, followed ‘Mommy’ everywhere I went! She loves car rides and walks. Also very much loves to be brushed!
We gave her a bath and we’re trying to fatten her up some just to get her back to her regular weight. I’ll be taking her to the vet soon to get her shots and check for any problems, especially heart worms.
She breathes really hard and her heart really pumps, even when she is sleeping so I want to be sure to get it all checked out so she can stay in our family for many, many years!
Bella has really completed our family & I know she will always have the best & be spoiled rotten like the rest of my fur babies!
I have such a love for dogs! One day I would absolutely love to open a ‘No Kill Shelter’.
If my husband would allow me to have 100 dogs without me ending up divorced, I so totally would!
But SOMEDAY! I will have a shelter to save dogs, work with them and find them their forever homes.
Soon we’ll be packed full with some great product reviews especially for our Fur Babies and our new section on Barefoot Mommies.
