I received ZVOX Z-Base 550 to say I was amazed by the quality of the sound is an understatement.
The Z-Base 525 is a complete home theater all built into a platform designed for you to simply place a stand-mounted flat panel TV on top of it. The entire system–speakers, amplifier, virtual surround technology and powered subwoofer–fits into the super-slim cabinet. The 550 is a true single-cabinet surround sound system. It doesn’t require anything else – no control console, no separate subwoofer cabinet, no other speakers, no speaker wires. With only one connecting cord and a one-page owner’s manual, it is truly “plug and play.” The cabinet is robustly constructed using fully-braced MDF (medium density fiberboard) — not plastic. Most audio systems in our price category use very cheap speakers in plastic cabinets. But at ZVOX we’re “old school” about things like this. We use nothing but high quality speaker drivers, carefully designed by ZVOX engineers and manufactured to our specification. The 550 uses specially treated long-excursion main drivers. All speaker magnets are powerful Neodymium models that are magnetically shielded. The cabinet is MDF (medium density fiberboard), the same material uses in most high-end loudspeakers.

I love how compact the 550 is.  I love how easy it was to install, I was able to do it without any help from my husband   He was very surprised at how great the ZVOX Z-Base 550 sounded.  My dad was even amazed and quite jealous
I love surround sound, although I really hate the mess of having all those speakers everywhere AND all the messy wires.  So tacky and unless you’re up in the attic to do it correctly it just looks bad.
