Rocky Mountain Diaper Review and Giveaway: Ends 9/15

Cloth pocket diapers (the kind that you stuff absorbent inserts into) are great for many reasons.  One, you control the amount of absorbency.  If its time for a long nap or bedtime, you can double the inserts up.  Or if you are running quickly to the store, a newborn insert or one regular one will be just fine.   Dads, daycares, babysitters, and  grandparents really like pocket diapers (that you have already stuffed) as well.  They go on and off as quickly and easily as disposables. Many pocket diapers are one size as well, meaning you can use them from birth through potty training, which is great for the budget.

What makes Rocky Mountain Diapers (RMD) different?   The way they change sizes!  Instead of snaps on the outside (which to me, just aren’t so cute and really limit the number of sizes) they have elastic on the inside with four snap choices that you can use to get a more customized fit.

The snap system is very easy to use and you only need to adjust the size as your baby grows, not every time you use it.

While the idea the adjustible elastic diaper isn’t new (it was first patented in 1952), there have been many styles over the years.  Tracie, mom to Aurora, 7 and Winter 15 months, created RMD when she was pregnant with Winter:

In  2007 I found out I was expecting again and couldn’t wait to cloth diaper the new baby. After modifying several diapers that I had with this type of elastic casing I just decided to try a go at it and make my own. My little diaper soon became popular in my social circle and I found inspiration in our own backyard and named the diapers after the beautiful mountain range we call home.

You can find the History of the Adjustable Elastic Diaper on her website.

Tracie kindly sent us a Moovin’ Berry diaper to try out.  First of all, everyone that sees it absolutely LOVES the pattern and the little leg gathers on the side (don’t worry, they are not girly!).   My daughter has spent many summer days hanging out in her diaper only, because in my opinion it is just to cute to cover!

I love the way that the RMD fits my daughter and it is very comfortable against her skin.   For the past two months we have used and washed this diaper ever two to three days and it still looks and feels great.

Overall Thoughts:

Pros:

  • Easy to use diaper
  • Love the internal adjustment system
  • Lots of colors and patterns to choose from
  • Baby doesn’t feel wetness due to the suede cloth inner
  • Snaps  (unless you are a hook and loop lover)
  • Great price ($18.50 individually and cheaper in a package)
  • One size: 5-30lbs
  • Rocky Mountain Diapers is a Lifetime Member of Mircale DiapersRMDMD-lifetime
  • Made in the USAMadeinUSA

Cons

  • Insert is not as absorbent as some others I have used
