Coffee House Inspirations Creamer Review

Even though it has been a hot summer, I still have enjoyed having a cup of coffee here and there.  I am not a huge drinker of coffee and probably will not be until I am at least done nursing/being pregnant.  It is such a joyous moment in my life, however, when I do have time to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee (iced or not).  All of the delicious cafe drinks are great, but not so nice on the budget or the waist line.  So I was excited when International Delights sent over two delicious “skinny” coffee creamers to try:

Skinny Vanilla Latte: Experience this coffeehouse classic with a decadent infusion of sweet vanilla flavor, without the fat and 30 calories per 1 Tbsp. serving

· Skinny Caramel Macchiato: Sip and savor the bold coffeehouse caramel flavor with notes of sweet cream, without the fat and 30 calories per serving 1 Tbsp. serving

image003

They both were good, but my husband and I preferred the Vanilla Latte over the Caramel Macchiato.  I didn’t find them as creamy as our normal International Delight creamers, but the flavor was great and therefore a win in our book! Ohh, and I loved the way they felt in my hands ~ very European or something.   I would certainly recommend anyone looking for a flavorful coffee without the fat to check out International Delight Coffee House Inspirations Skinny creamers.  Especially those of you that need to get up early to get your kiddos off to school!!

    Tyson – Review + Giveaway

    logoTyson

I don’t know about your kids, but mine absolutely LOVE chicken nuggets!
They especially love the dinosaur kind because it lets them actually play with their food without getting into trouble.

    http://www.tyson.com/Consumer/Products/ViewImage.aspx?id=1686&w=170

Tyson wants to help parents conquer mealtime battles with picky eaters, Tyson Foods and Robin Miller are teaming up to show how finger foods, like Tyson® 100% All Natural Chicken Nuggets, can not only please picky eaters but also be fundamental in building a foundation of balanced eating habits.

As I am sure you know, most moms have tried almost everything to get their kids to stop saying “no!” to the new or unfamiliar foods on their plates. Once moms find that “nugget” of mealtime wisdom that gets their fussy eaters to try new foods and help build a foundation of balanced nutrition, they often want to pass this valuable information along to other moms.

Recommended by health care professionals as a top pick for picky eaters, Tyson® 100% All Natural Chicken Nuggets are protein-packed, minimally processed and contain no artificial ingredients, preservatives or fillers. They’re crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Parents will love them because they’re wholesome and build a great foundation for balanced eating habits; kids will love them because they’re simply delicious.

FUNdamental Finger Food—In a recent survey, nearly
70 percent of registered dietitians surveyed said they would
recommend a finger food protein source like Tyson® 100%
All Natural Chicken Nuggets because they contain no artificial
    ingredients, preservatives or fillers.*
Great Taste—Tyson® 100% All Natural Chicken Nuggets offer a
familiar, delicious taste that kids love and parents can feel good
    about serving.
Easy to Prepare—Hot from the oven or microwave,
Tyson® 100% All Natural Chicken Nuggets are ready in
minutes with a re-sealable package to ensure freshness.

Tyson® 100% All Natural Chicken Nuggets are available nationwide in grocery stores’ frozen section. To find a grocery store near you, go to the product finder section of Tyson’s Web site, http://www.tyson.com/Recipes/Product/.

Looking for more “nuggets” to help please finicky eaters?  Here are a few top solutions submitted by parents:

    • “I started a point system chart to get my two children to eat better. They would get points for giving up pop, eating vegetables, and trying new foods (that one was worth 10 points!). At the end of the week, I would give them a penny for every point they earned. It wouldn’t amount to much: sometimes between $2-$3, but it was worth it to get them to eat better.”
    • “I have boys so if we have noodles for supper, I tell them we are having boiled worms instead. Green beans are snake bites. Chicken nuggets are bird Frisbees. I add blue food coloring to scrambled eggs to have scrambled alien eggs. My kids are much more excited to have a bowl of boiled worms than to have something boring for supper.”
    • “Our children love chicken nuggets, but it’s often hard to get them to eat healthy side dishes. So, we started growing a vegetable garden. Now, they love running outside to see what healthy food is growing. For the first time ever, they are eating broccoli, beets, spinach, bell peppers and other yummy home-grown food.”
    • “I have ‘appetizers’ out while I’m preparing dinner. I put out cut up veggies, a bowl of cherry tomatoes, hummus and baby carrots, or cut up fruit (on toothpicks if I have the time) and the kids can graze while we talk about their day. It lets the kids make healthy choices and reduces the food struggles to get them to eat their dinners.”
    • “Save the best for last!  We put meat and veggies on the plate first for hungry kids to dig into.  My picky eater won’t eat anything else once the mashed potatoes hit the plate.”
    • “At mealtime, I have little metal bowls that I fill with dipping sauces and put them in the middle of the table for them to share.  Whatever we are having, I always give them dipping sauces, such as ketchup, mustard or honey.  As long as they can dip their food into one of these, they will eat anything.  Sounds really simple, but works for my kids.”
    • “Make ‘art structures’ out of food. It’s easy to get carrots and grape tomatoes and chicken down when they are created into silly faces, dogs, horses, or any favorite animal. Once they get past the first experience, throw in asparagus and more adventurous vegetables.”
    • “I try to get my picky eater to eat healthy by telling her she has to eat a certain number of pieces of healthy fruit or vegetables. She tries to negotiate the number down, so we end up compromising with her…”

My kids love Tyson Chicken nuggets! I mean absolutely love them! With a little fat free ranch dressing on the side Tyson Chicken nuggets are sure to please!

I have 10 FREE chicken nugget coupons to give away!

    Entering is easy peasy!

Struggling to get your little one to eat their veggies?  How do you please even the pickiest of eaters?   What’s your “nugget” of wisdom?
Please leave a comment and tell us YOUR wisdom!

      Organicville Foods Review

      logo_head

These days we are trying to eat as much organic (or at least hormone free) as possible.  We have gotten an Organic Community Supported Agriculture share and love going to the farm to pick up the freshest and healthiest vegetables possible.  We try to buy organic meats and organic Health and Beauty products as well.  One area that I never considered is condiments.  Frankly, I had never seen them so that did not cross my mind.  When Organicville Foods contacted me to do a review I was intrigued.

      Organicville Foods

As processed food chemicals and high-sugar additives plague the grocery store aisles across the U.S., Organicville, the makers of USDA certified organic, vegan and gluten-free mustard, salad dressing , ketchup barbeque and teriyaki sauce and salsas sweetened with agave nectar, has created gourmet solutions for a healthier, more environmentally focused lifestyle – including products that are safe for those with special dietary concerns, and tasty enough for all.

Founded by Rachel Kruse, a 33 year-old entrepreneur, third-generation vegetarian and organic consumer, she turned to creating delicious, healthy products to offer a better alternative to sugars, preservatives and processed foods – as growing up, she couldn’t find organic dressings and condiments that tasted great. The goal: to enjoy a great tasting organic product without having to sacrifice flavor or quality.

I tried out the Orange Cranberry dressing and Pineapple Salsa.

      • Vegan
      • Delicious taste

      salsa_pineapple

      Pros:

      • Organic, real and flavorful. LOVED the salsa
      • Price is in line with other salad dressings and salsas
      • Gluten free and vegan
      • Variety of flavors
      • Carried in most grocery stores (at least in my area) and available online in many places

      Cons:

      • The Orange Cranberry dressing was not as flavorful as I would have liked, however, the Pineapple Salsa was AMAZING (best ever according to my husband)

I certainly recommend Organicville products if you are looking for something that not only tastes good, but is good for you and the earth as well!

Eggo Real Fruit Pizza Blog Tour

          July 19, 2010 by LizN

My daughter and son are on a waffle kick lately. They’ve always enjoyed them, but it’s really intensified lately. I bought 2 24-packs of Eggos the other night. It’s out of control. So, naturally, when I had the chance to try a new Eggo product, I took it!

Eggo has introduced the Real Fruit Pizza, topped with fruit and granola. We baked ours, but you can make them in the microwave in a minute! They come in two flavors: Strawberry Granola and Mixed Berry Granola!

          Fruit-Pizza-Strawberry-Granola

I was actually traveling for work when ours arrived, so my husband and kids made it—without me—to go with dinner. My daughter loved it. My son, who is 16 months and occasionally hates things he loved the previous day, decided he did not like waffles that night. My husband was impressed that the waffle didn’t get too soggy from the fruit and granola topping. He liked it, but he’s too picky an eater for me to get him to want to buy it all the time. Since I didn’t try it, I’ll buy one for my daughter and I one lazy Saturday morning, I suppose.

“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Eggo Real Fruit Pizza and received a sample of the product and a $20 Amazon gift certificate to facilitate my review.”

Stevia Extract in the Raw Review and Giveaway

            July 19, 2010 by LizN

We drink a lot of tea at our house. Hot in the winter, iced in the summer. Actually, I love iced tea all year. I have been making a lot of iced tea this summer. I use sugar. My husband hates artificial sweeteners and I gave them up when I was pregnant and nursing, and haven’t gone back. But, we’re consuming so many empty calories! So, I thought it would be fun to do a taste test at home and switch Stevia Extract in the Raw for sugar.

Well, my husband tasted the tea and said “what is this?” He didn’t dislike it, but he really is a sugar purist. I, on the other hand, LOVED it. I have been making my own batches of tea with Stevia Extract in the Raw to enjoy my tea and cut all those calories out of my day. I haven’t tried it in baking yet, but I think I’ll work on another taste-test soon!

Stevia Extract in the Raw is a plant-based sweetener. So, it’s 100% natural and calorie-free!

Want to buy it? You can purchase it online or in stores nationwide! Be sure to download the coupon from their website before you go shopping!

Want to win it? One lucky winner will win a Stevia Extract in the Raw baker’s bag (what I used for the tea—it measures like sugar) and a box of packets (perfect for on the go—I leave some in my desk at work for unsweetened tea and coffee).

To enter, visit their website and tell me how you would use Stevia. Is it a recipe on their site? Let me know in the comments!

Contest ends 8/2/10 at 11:59 EDT and is open to residents of USA who are 18 years old or older. Void where prohibited by law. Winner will be chosen by random.org after the close of the contest and will have 48 hours to respond to email. If no response is received within 48 hours, winner forfeits their prize and a new winner will be drawn. No purchase necessary.

Tabatchnick Soups – Review and Giveaway

              July 19, 2010 by LizN

I often forget to pack a lunch for work. It’s an annoying habit. I’m hoping to break it when I send my daughter to school in the fall, since I’ll be packing one for her!

Because of this, I like to leave some cans of soup in my desk and frozen items in the fridge at work. I was excited to try Tabatchnick soups so I could leave some in the office for days like that!

The frozen soups come two pouches to a box. So, today, I ate the second of the two Vegetarian Chili soups I had in the freezer. (Last week, I had some Barley & Mushroom Soup.) The soups are really good! I like them because I can understand all of the ingredients on the label (you know, mushrooms, beans, etc.—real words!) and they are really well seasoned. The chili wasn’t spicy enough for me, so I added a little shredded pepper-jack cheese to the top (I usually always use cheddar) and it was great that way! The Barley & Mushroom soup was really good, too. I can’t believe I’ve passed these by in the store so many times before!

              Chili-500

My store didn’t have a huge selection (maybe 8 varieties), but there are some products that look really tasty that I’d like to try. Like, corn chowder. I LOVE corn chowder. They also make shelf-stable soups and broths, but my store didn’t have those either. But, even so, I was very happy with the soups I tried. And, it saved me from buying deep-fried food on lunch today.

A little more about the company, in their words:

CEO Ben Tabatchnick keeps his great-grandma in mind every time he develops a new soup or personally visits an ingredient supplier. You’ve heard that some kosher brands answer to ‘a higher authority?’ Well, in the Tabatchnick family, when it came to soups, there was no higher authority in the kitchen than Momma.

As little Benje Tabatchnick, he took tickets from customers in line at the family delis, and then spent his youth working alongside his father, watching and learning what it takes to create great food. He worked as a buyer, traveling the world in search of the finest, freshest ingredients, and today, as CEO, he continues the family tradition by creating world-class soups.

“One of the greatest joys in life is sitting at a table, watching the steam rise from a hot bowl of soup, and anticipating that first spoonful,” he says. “We all have wonderful memories of soup. We ate it with our families, before a big holiday meal, or as a warm lunch on a cold winter’s day.”

Want to buy some? Visit the store locator on their website to find a store near you!

Want to win some? I have a prize pack with an apron, insulated soup tote, and coupons to give away to one lucky reader!

To enter, visit their website and leave me a comment telling me which product you most want to try.

Tabatchnick provided me with coupons for free products and is sponsoring the giveaway prize. All opinions are mine.

                Chicken Dorito Casserole

                July 18, 2010 by Krissy
                Filed under Adults/Parents, Grocery, Recipes

This is another super yummy recipe and super easy!  Just what this Momma loves!

                Chicken Dorito Casserole

                Ingredients:
                *1 Bag of Doritos
*1 Can of Cream of Chicken Soup
*1 Can Cream of Mushroom (I didn’t use this because we don’t like mushrooms, we just doubled the can of Cream of Chicken Soup, worked GREAT)
*1 whole chicken, cooked, skinned, deboned and chopped. (I just used Chicken Breasts, deboned, skinned & chopped)
*1 Can of Rotel Tomatoes, drained
                *1 Bag Cheddar Cheese
*1 Bag Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
                *Non-Stick Cooking Spray

                Directions:

In a large mixing bowl, add chicken, soups, Rotel tomatoes, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper; stir to mix ingredients.
Mix in cheddar cheese and HALF of the sharp cheese; crumble HALF of the Doritos and mix crumbs into the mixture.
Pour mixture into baking dish that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.
Put in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for 20-30 minutes or until hot.
Sprinkle remainder of sharp cheese on top and take remaining Doritos and place on top of cheese.
Place back in oven about 5 minutes.
Make sure to watch as oven temperatures vary and you don’t want to scorch your chips; bake until cheese slightly melts.

                Feeds 6-8
You can add more cheese or spices to this recipe.

                This is also SUPER good!!!
My kids ate it because it had Doritos on it, what kid doesn’t like to eat chips!

                  Broken Glass Cake

                  July 18, 2010 by Krissy
                  Filed under Adults/Parents, Grocery, Recipes

This recipe that I’m going to tell y’all about is absolutely awesome!  My husband has tried (Since we’ve been married) for me to make this cake.  I always forgot about it and didn’t know how to make it…trust me when I say I HATE cooking so if something can ’slip’ my mind, I’m all for it!

The Broken Glass Cake is a PERFECT cake for summer time.  Be it Birthdays, family get-togethers and more!

So here we go!  It’s super easy but it is time consuming because it is with JELLO.

                  IMG00235-20100718-2045

I went BY the recipe for this, but I don’t see why you couldn’t use other flavors of JELL-O.

                  *1 (3 oz.) Lime JELL-O

                  1 cup boiling water
                  1/2 Cup Cold water

                  *1 (3 oz.) Orange JELL-O
                  1 cup boiling water
                  1/2 cup cold water

                  1 (3 oz.) Cherry JELL-O
                  1 cup boiling water
                  1/2 cup cold water

                  *1 (3 oz.) Lemon JELL-O
*Pineapple juice (You will only need 1 Cup)
                  *1/4 cup of sugar
                  *1 (8 oz.) carton of Cool-Whip
                  *1/2 cup of cold water

You are going to make the Cherry, Lime, & Orange JELL-O separately using 1 cup boiling water and 1/2 cup cold water for each package of jello. Pour into separate 8×8 inch separate pans.

Chill until firm, usually 4-5 hours.

The next step I wouldn’t do until you’re about 1-2 hours ready to get the cake ALL together.

                  Step 2:

You’re going to use 1 cup of Pineapple Juice, and the lemon JELL-O….Bring it to a boil.
Take off the burner and add 1/4 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup cold water
                  Mix it together.
You’re going to put this in the fridge but don’t let it get ’set’. You’re going to want it thick, but not gelled.

                  Once everything is ready…Your JELL-O being set and your Pineapple mixure is thick;

You’re going to take your cool-whip, use half of the 8oz to mix the lemon & pineapple mixture.  Once all mixed go ahead and put in the rest of the cool-whip and stir it.
Pineapple mixture should be slightly thick and not too runny.
You’re then going to take your JELL-O, the Cherry, Lime & Orange and cut it into about 1/2″ squares
                  You’re going to
Fold into pineapple mixture. (You want to keep it still fluffy and not get the JELL-O all crumbly.)

Poor into Glass Bowl, or use a baking dish.  I didn’t have a glass bowl so I just used a baking dish.

Put it in the fridge for 5-8 hours or overnight.

IF you want to have a crust with this, it’s really good!  I used a crust with mine and loved it.
                  Use 1/2 cup of Sugar
                  1/2 cup of Butter
                  24 Graham Crackers

Mix all that together and make your crust, put it at the bottom of your bowl or baking dish.

Then pour the Mixture on top of the crust and let set in the fridge 5-8 hours or overnight.

ALSO!  I did make a Sugar-Free Broken Glass Cake for my husband (Since he is a diabetic) and you will do the same exact thing but instead use Sugar-Free JELL-O and for the sugar use the sweetner of your choice, I used Walmart brand called ‘Altern’.

What’s great about this cake is it looks like Broken Glass when cut, and I can only imagine what it would look like in a glass bowl!
If you guys make this cake, PLEASE share a picture and what you thought about it!
