Kidbasix- Safe Sporter Sports Bottle Review

One of my biggest gripes about toddler and little kid products is the leaky sippy cup. I can’t tell you how many “leak-proof bottles” and cups I went through that just didn’t live up to their expectations. I would put them in my diaper bag or purse and within minutes the entire bottom was soaked with milk or juice. I don’t even want to add up how much I spent on sippy cups trying to resolve this problem. Only a few products have met my standards one of them being Kidbasix: The Safe Sporter.

The Safe Sporter is a traditional sports bottle when it comes to the spout which I like. This seems to provide the best seal when on the go. The bottle is stainless steel which prevents and nasty plastic chemicals from leeching into the beverage and there is a silicone grippy cover around part of the outside of the bottle so little hands can grasp it easily. The top spout portion has a flip top cover that allows the bottle to be closed. I have found that as long as you make sure the drinking spout is pushed down tightly and you close the lid nicely, you won’t have any leakage. I still try to make sure it’s propped up within a pocket of my purse or my son’s sports bag but really we haven’t had issues with this one.

Pros:
-12 oz makes it big enough to hold enough fluid for an outing and it also fits inside a lunchbox easily
-Doesn’t leak
-BPA and phthalate free
-The bottle has a very wide spout once you take the lid off and this allows you to easily clean the inside. Most bottle have such a tiny opening it’s impossible to clean it thoroughly.
-The cost is pretty affordable. The Safe Sporter is approximately $15 which is pretty comparable to other stainless bottles on the market.

Cons:
-The only thing that bugs me about reusable water bottles, and it’s not just this one, is the little rubber or silicone ring that is inside the spout cover. This is used to keep it leak free so I’m ok with it but I find I have to remove it in order to clean it properly. Milk and juice can get it gunked up otherwise.
