Tasti D-Lite: A Tasty Delight Indeed! (Review)

Do you know about Tasti D-Lite? It’s not ice cream (there’s less than 10 percent butter fat) and it’s not frozen yogurt (there are no yogurt cultures), yet it’s a creamy, dairy treat that happens to be just 70 calories. With less calories, carbs, sugar, and sodium than frozen yogurt and ice cream, and less fat than ice cream, Tasti D-Lite is the perfect option for treating yourself and your family without sacrificing healthy eating habits.
Offering more than 100 flavors, there’s something for everyone. Acai, Burnt Sugar, Mocha Almond Fudge, Caramel Apple, and Toffee Crunch are just a few of the many options available. All flavors begin with either the vanilla dairy base or chocolate dairy base. The vanilla base is made with water, non-fat milk, sugar, corn syrup, cream, guar gum, locust bean gum, carrageenan, vanilla, and lactase. The chocolate base is made with cocoa instead of vanilla. With the exception of just a few, the great majority of flavors are gluten-free. Tasti D-Lite also offers shakes, sundaes, and smoothies.
Tasti D-Lite is a NYC institution (perhaps you remember Charlotte and Harry discussing it on Sex and the City?), but its headquarters are located in Franklin, TN, not far from my home in Nashville. The super nice folks at Tasti D-Lite invited me to come to my local store to sample flavors and learn about Tasti D-Lite. I was able to sample vanilla, chocolate, butter pecan, bananas foster, and Nutella. They were all very delicious, but the Nutella blew my mind! I will definitely be going back for more. Nutella is one of the flavors that is 90 calories, but that is still very low for such a delicious treat. I was also able to try a hot chocolate float which would be a yummy way to get your Tasti D-Lite fix on a cold day.
April is Kid’s Month at Tasti D-Lite and they have introduced both cotton candy and bubble gum flavors. My son was able to try both and really enjoyed them. Throughout the month, Tasti D-Lite will have balloons, sidewalk chalk, and other activities. I can attest to their kid-friendly atmosphere. My son was in rare form the day we were there and was all over the place, and they didn’t bat a lash. They were very kind and friendly with him. Check out your local Tasti D-Lite and you won’t regret it!
