Few things are as heart warming as seeing a smile brighten up a child’s face. However, throughout the world many children are born with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities, in countries and financial circumstances that make their young lives more difficult, often leading to shunning and rejection. Luckily, these children have champion in an international children’s medical charity that heals children’s smiles, forever changing their lives.
Since 1982, Operation Smile has provided over 2 million patient evaluations and over 200, 000 free surgeries, bringing smiles back to the faces of children and young adults allowing them to lead happy and normal lives. A relatively easy cleft lip or cleft palate surgery costs as little as $240, and can a change a child’s life forever in as few as 45 minutes. Operation Smile is one of the most prominent children’s charities in the world working in over 60 countries by restoring children’s smiles it gives them hope for a brighter future.
There is now a way to donate to Operation Smile, while buying things you may already need for college. In 2011, Operation Smile has partnered with CampusBookRentals.com for their Making a Difference Program through which committed to donating enough to cover a minimum of 1,000 life changing surgeries.
